Although I've been riding bikes for, blimey, 38 years now    I'm  a relative newcomer to bike forums, only found my way to this one 'cos my daughter talked me into going on facebook, then I followed a link to here. Anyway while I've been laid up (stitches came out today :eusa_dance ) I've been reading loads of stuff on the Hubb, ADV etc....  some good reading, some really funny stuff, some totally inspiring... love the rebuild threads, even got my own one going now thanks to Bruken.....

I came across this thread yesterday & it really knocked the wind out of my sails.... guess a few of you will have seen it, its 4 years old now........ what a shocker Jeez

My God, what a sad,sad story. It really makes you think about how fragile we really are and how one simple act can change a life so much. On a happier note I hope that you are getting over your surgery quickly and effectively and riding again soon. Good health!

I read that several years ago and I check in on it once in a while.  A true heartbreaker.  I had that story in mind while riding through Baja last year.

I keep that story in mind to remind myself just how easily it could be me.

I never got to the last post when I read it.

I can honestly say, I have never felt so uplifted, sad and finally disturbed by any other story in my life, I still haven't really got it out of my head as it's impossible to catagorise and I can't put it to rest with a single conclusion, that may well not be possible.
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

Yes, truly a very sad story.
