Corrosion issue

Hi, the picture show some corrosion around the lower coolant hose. It's hard to see but the pitting is quite bad. Is this a common thing and will a simple clean up and repaint be sufficient?

Try seeing if you can undo the bolt that holds it to the block first. Mine had corroded in so badly I had to cut it out. If you have been using rust prevatative anti freeze coolant you should be alright and the rust will be superficial to the outer surface in which case you can clean up the rust, put on a rust preventative coat and then repaint. If the internals of the pipe has rusted you'd be advised to replace as soon as.
