Coming from a lifetime of jap bikes, I am use to the castle nut and cotter pin to secure rear axle. How reliable is the nylon insert type nut and has anybody drilled and replaced axle nut with cotter pin setup ? Also whats the tread size and pitch of the axle if anybody knows ? :?:

I'm coming up on 90k miles on this type nut on the Tiger, and it hasn't come undone yet.  Just torque it correctly, and ride.

80 ft/lbs and ride it! Never had an issue.
