I'm going to ride to Wales in May. We'll stay in Aberystwyth and start some tours from there.

What places should we visit, what roads should we take? What do we have to see? Are there some places, where motorbikers meet?

Thanks for your proposals. 8)

There are loads of great roads in this land, be careful on the country roads there will be sheep walking aimlessly.

Depends what time in May, you are planning your visit,

the Welsh bike show will be on at end of may http://www.dragoneventsltd.co.uk/welsh- ... show-2011/

just some of the vid around here, From llandovery to Rhyader

I frequent Aberystwyth quite often (I have friends there).

There is a cafe on the sea front (to the right of the peer).  They serve good food and drinks.  Most sunny days, you may find one or two bikes parked up on the pavement by the zebra crossing and it is usually packed on a Saturday & Sunday.

Seafront Cafe

On a Sunday, there is a big meet at the petrol station/cafe at Crossgates.  This is about 40 miles away from Aberystwyth on some cracking roads.

Crossgates

Regards riding, just head out in any direction and explore.  Get off the main roads and up into the hills and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The missus is from Aber.  It's a great place and you can't go wrong no matter where you go from there.

The road from Aber to Built Wells is amongst my favourites for blasting along.
Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?

when I went last year, I was really pleasently suprised by the coast road that runs up towards Barmouth (which is also a nice place to stop) A493?

I was a little further north of where you're planning but not too far away..

some of my pics here..

+1 For the Barmouth Road, cracking Fish and Chips in Barmouth Too.

You can then go see a Great Castle in Harlech, then finish off in Portmeirion where the 60's Prisoner TV show was shot.

The mountain Road from Devils Bridge through to Rhayader is pretty cool aswell, takes in the Elan Valley Reservoirs.

When I was a lad, saw my first ever girl with no knickers in Barmouth.  Wind blew her voluminous skirt and I nearly crashed my car...

Groucho, Abers a nice central place to base yourself for some great roads in north and central Wales. There is still parking on the prom but the council have installed a chained off designated parking area for bikes at the north side of the diner, away from the pedestrian crossing where bikes used to park.
As for roads....try the A44 towards Rhayader..then turn around an do it again   or carry on and check out the Elan Dams, nice cafe at the visitor center. Then over the moors to Devils Bridge and back to Aber.
Also, just head up to Snowden, great roads and scenery, best mid week to aviod the rolling roadblocks and suicidle walkers and cyclists.

Have a great time :)
