Tiger a good deal?

Not sure if this should be on the "for sale" thread or not. There is a dealer nearby with a brand spankin' new 05 Tiger for $8500. No accessories that  I am aware of, just stock. Good Deal?

I was making the same kind of decision last month.  Is that $8500 out-the-door or "plus tax, registration, dealer prep... blah, blah, blah"?

I got my stock '05 in downtown San Francisco (40 miles away) for $9900 out the door.  I considered it a good deal, especially because none of the other dealers in the Bay Area would come close.

Then, of course, is the bigger question: what IS a "good deal?"  As far as I'm concerned a good deal, on anything, is a price I'm willing to pay and feel as if it was worth it to ME.

One buying strategy, though:  call up the next-three nearest dealers and ask THEM if it's a good deal (or if they can do better! )

hd, I think it is a good deal.

I bought a new '06 recently and spent some time checking out '05 prices, bidding on eBay etc. I can't see you doing much better than that, and if you do it will be by a very small margin.

Meanwhile time is a-wasting! You could be out riding that Tiger right now!

Go get it!!

Might want to ask how much the luggage is worth to you..  I am pretty sure the luggage was standard on the '05.  New luggage is around $1200..  With that in the mix, the gap is narrowing very quickly...

Yeah, I'm watching the news right now... 8-10 inches by noontime tomorrow!!!

This bike is listed on e-bay right now up in NH.

Mudhen

That's about the same price the other NH dealer quoted me for their '05 Lucifer Orange, too...must be right about at their cost...

Where are you from?

I believe Mudhen is correct. $8500 must be pretty close to dealer cost - even dealers with a number of 05's on the floor would go no lower than that when I was shopping recently.

The '05 certainly includes the side panniers as standard.

Too bad about the weather in New Hampshire. We are in low 40's here with lovely, clear skies. The Tiger group is heading out for a good country roads ride Saturday morning. :P

Ugh...we got POUNDED...16" or so.  More the type of snow we see in January - not December!  Is 40's typical for this time of year for you guys?  My wife and I have been talking about places we'd like to move to...40s sound good...

Sorry, Mudhen - Portland is now overpopulated and full..no room. Oh hang on a moment, maybe room for one more Tiger rider.

40's is not untypical around here. We really don't get too much real cold weather. Our bigger issue is rain - it can drizzle here for days on end. So when we get a good dry spell for a week or two in winter (even for a day or two) out a-riding we go.

It may snow in Portland once or twice in a year - the snow is up in the mountains all around us.

What we do have that is awesome are great country roads a half hour out of town.

The Pacific NW is pretty darn cool!

I live in Essex county in MA, Mudhen. About 8" here. Is that dealer I'm talking about pretty reputable? I'm sure you must know, he's not too far from you.

I think the one you're looking at is at Naults Windham (there's also Naults Manchester).  AFAIK reputable, although I've only used Manchester and just for some parts.  The Lucifer orange bike I mentioned is at Great Bay...I like those guys over there a lot.  They may also be putting their '05 up on Ebay soon...

Essex county...not too far from Exeter where I am - get that bike and lets ride!

I was at Great bay about 2 months ago and they had the orange Tiger then. They still wanted $10,500 for it. I went back about a month later and it was gone. I'm not sure if they have any there now, but I'm sure there aren't any 05s there.

I went out with the owner and one of the salesguys on Thursday night...they still have it.  Last time I was in it was tucked in the corner...no sense having those bikes you're trying to get rid of front and center!

I guess i need glasses! Have they dropped the price at all? I go to their web site fairly often and haven't seen it.
