But I'm getting closer!!  This is the bike I agreed to purchase today.  It's out of town at a dealer and I need to get my FZ6 in for a trade.  Unfortunately I can't get there until a week from this Saturday.....

Here she is attached.  Looks a lot like your bike Stretch, just not as cool yet.  Got to work on that.  Thanks for all the help and wish me luck on closing this deal!

Yep, I'm sure it's our fault.  We've got plenty of snow after today and Saturday's snow fall.  My only hope is that this will be it and it'll melt.  I've often ridden in January!  Now I'm going to pick up a new bike and won't even be able to get it out of the driveway for a test ride.

Whoa!  What a lovely mo-sheen!

I have a brand-new pair of TKC-80's sitting in the next room.  I'll tinker on that today and tomorrow and get some pics posted.

My farkling inspiration was EagleFeather's BRG '05, and the high fender idea came from Mudhen's black Steamer, with some goading from EagleFeather.

It's funny but my 73 year old dad, who is the reason for my motorcycle disease but no longer rides, has been watching my latest purchase closely as I think he loved my Beemer more than any of my machines.  He's been a little picky about the Tiger.  Don't think he liked it much.  When I told him the blue one had been taken and I'd made a deal on a silver one his response was "Great!  I liked what Stretch did to his Silver bike."  He'd been watching very closely!

Will do.  He must be following my posts on ADV.

I miss riding with him.  The whole reason for my planned trip to Alaska is because of the thought he placed in my head many years ago.  When the BMW R80GS first came out we had dreamed of buying a pair of them and riding to Alaska.  Unfortunately we just couldn't find the time or money.  I have plenty of great memories riding with him and I've carried that tradition on with my kids.  I intend to take the Tiger to Alaska with my oldest on my DRSixFiddy.

Absolutely no excuses.  I purchased the DR specifically for my son to take and the purchase of the Tiger was the final purchase for bikes on the trip.  I've been re-searching for a while about which bike would make me happy as I wasn't just buying the bike for the trip, it needed to make me happy before and after!!

Plans have begun and books are being read as I plan my trip.  Greg Frazier has been a fun and fantastic resource.  I'm planning a couple of years out so it won't be next year though I might have to meet up with George to show him how fast the 06 is.....it's not the bike it's the rider!!

Yes, I'm familiar with them and they are on my short list.  For that matter, I even filed your trip a week or so ago to be reviewed towards the trip date.  I've been doing that with a few  others.  Whip from BMWST had a beautiful ride report.

Thanks!!

Cool.

I had been on ADV for a while, so a couple months shy of the trip, I PM'd Tractor Rider and AKphotog, asking questions about restaurants, scenic roads, etc.

It tickled the shit out of me when we wandered in to the HD dealer in Anchorage, and Tractor Rider was there.

Keep AKDuc and Fugawi in mind for questions also... they were very helpful when we bumped into them (by accident again).  They frequently hang out on 'The Great White North' in ADV's Regional Forums.

Great folks, Alaska's riders.  They really go out of their way to be helpful.  RocDoc and I stopped at the side of the road to take a photo, and some dude on a GS pulls up just to make sure we're okay.  Turns out, it was Fugawi, and he showed us around for a few hours.

I love the Motorcycle community.  I'm amazed at who I meet.  People that ride and people that don't will go out of their way to talk to you.  On my trip around Lake Superior I came across George.  He actually sought me out. We were in a restaurant and he was getting gas.  He came in to find us just to talk.  Great guy.  While in Sault Ste Marie I was crossing a road while out walking.  I had my jacket in my hand.  A guy on an RT went past, I waived, he saw my jacket and noticed my RT down the road in a parking lot.  He swung around found my bike and waited for us.  Turns out that I've talked with him on line several times.  Who'd a thought I'd run into him by chance.  He offered to let us sleep in his back yard.  While in San Diego I met up with a husband and wife that road RT's.  I had flown in for a show and left a note on BMWST about being in town.  They contacted me, offered me a place to stay and bought me lunch.  While traveling through MN I spoke with a guy that used to ride waaaaaay back when.  Talked for twenty minutes about the good ole days.  Then I came across a guy that would have scared the crap out of me in a dark alley.  We started to chat and he's driving an old K Bike with 100K on it down to the rally in WI.  I gave him a map I didn't need anymore and yacked for the longest time.  This list goes on and on.

Motorcycles are more than transportation for me.  They are a passion but even more so they are part of my personality and great way to meet new friends.

Ahhhhh, inspiration!

My dad's sitting here watching over my youngest since I can't chase after him right now since my leg's in a sling and the rest of the fam is out at a concert.....He likes your skid plate.  Which one is that?  Those TKC80s look great.  The high fender is a must though some of you have scared me a little with the trouble you had bleeding the breaks.  Any good solutions to that yet?
