Fork springs

Anyone changed the standard progressive springs in the 05/06 to a linear set. I have been told by a suspension specialist that it will firm the front end up, dive less and make the handling much better. ( but firmer).
After a bit of web browsing, it appears that nearly all sports set ups are going to linear springs. ??? :shock:

My local suspension shop really hates progressive springs and steered me away from them on my Steamer.

Went with a stiffer spring in the bike (Steamers are not progressive I thought) and...

What local suspension shop did you use, and what kind of ballpark price did they charge you for install.  I live in Woodstock and am looking at upgrading my fork springs on the tiger as soon as possible.

Lot's of race stuff goes thru there and they do work for national folks at times when they come into town. I heard from one person that wasn't happy with them...but loads very happy. My expierience was a very good one.

Hard to give a price because I didn't take ANYTHING off the bike and have the rear shock rebuilt to boot. Having the rear shock aloing with remote rebuild with spring and the front totally overhauled with racetech gold valve emulators and new springs and heaveir oil cost me around $800. Give'm a call or stop by...a guy that wrote up my order has a Speed triple.

When I bought my bike, the guy told me he had fitted emulators in the front forks. Therefore I haven't ridden a Tiger without them. It handles fine. Maybe someone can enlighten me on them. Is this a good improvement.?

To the best of my limited knowledge, the '05's have 20% stiffer linear springs than the '04's.  I think triple rate springs were an '06 update.  Since I'm not a lardass, my stock '05's seem to work pretty well.   :)

I weigh 235.  

I did the cheapest option and it transformed the bike.

Change you oil weight and height.  

I was changing the fork oil anyway, so why not experiment?

And I would absolutely be up for a ride next time you guys take off.  I am leaving for Mexico next saturday and will return the following, when I get back I will be all for taking a run up in to north ga, never done the cooper creek run, or any off roading in north ga so I am looking forward to seeing what the tiger can do.  I am also waiting for my crash bars from ma's cycles, hopefully they will be here next week so I can crash it properly without worrying about damaging the tank.  Thanks again.

Just kidding, you really have to dump your Tiger at least once when you're alone in the woods.  :P  
Only then do you learn how heavy these blasted pigs are to pick up by yourself. :shock:
Even better if it's spewing coolant out of the overflow while awaiting your attention.  :twisted:

It can not weigh anymore than my valkyrie :) and I have had to pick that up before.  Never had to deal with the overflow spewing though, sounds like a blast...lol
