Title: Steamer spares
Post by: Nick Calne on August 01, 2015, 09:00:59 PM
Ok guys. Starting next week, I'm trying to sell my house, mainly due to Mrs C's insane lust for social advancement. Apparently having nearly 2 spare steamers in bits around the place is not going to help.  :^_^

If you need anything you may get it at a bargain price. Spare engine anyone? Drop me a pm!

Ps alternatively if you'd like to buy a 4 bed house in Wiltshire with some spares for your steamer thrown in then please call my estate agents.

Pps if I move from Calne to Devizes can I change my forum name to NickDevizes?

Hang on. I haven't moved yet and there is a fair chance it could be Marlborough, Avebury or Quemerford!

If I end up homeless I could be Nicknofixedabode or Nicktent.

Hi Nick, I'm after a back rack and the left and right side panels (either side of airbox) if you have them for my '93 900. Cheers.

I think it's me that NeilD just mentioned as he put me onto you after seeing my post on a FaceBook group!

Going into the hell hole that is the loft and I'll get looking. I definately have a rack, those particular panels ...not so sure. I'll check!

Assuming that your saddle is in anything like decent shape it should be better than mine is at present. Can I lay a claim on it, as you are venturing into your loft. I am probably driving to Dorset in the Autumn, I could pick it up then if you want.

**When reading this part of the thread you should be humming the "I went to the danger zone" theme from Top Gun.

I went in the loft and dug out the first tranche of stuff for people.  There is literally loads more in there but I must move some stuff around to get to it.  I'll try again tomorrow and see what that liberates.  Today's situation...

Alienfing - Sorry mate, error 404: rack not located at this attempt. See comment re tomorrow.

Jaydub - ECU located and ready to post.  PM me your address.  Some further good news the three 'free to good home' coils have also been located.  I was expecting them to be Gill, but the letters  P V & L are visible on the top of the units making you today's lucky winner!  As for the side panel in black, I wasn't sure which one you meant.  The picture below shows the black panels I have.  You can have the side one postage only if it is the one you want.  I would like to sell the others if poss.

GeoffW - Saddle found. Condition is pretty good, a couple of very small spots of wear on the corners.  Can keep it by for you if you like, but would prefer to get it out of the house before I move if I can!

Sin Tiger - I found a couple of things you might like including some rear stock indicators and I know that at one point you were looking for a standard small screen, see picture.

I fitted both this morning and guess what... No change whatsoever!  :^_^ it still has the annoying on/off throttle characteristic and it still surges (but much less of a problem now I've titted about with the fuel/air screws).  So that's everything changed... there's nothing left - I just have to live with it  :icon_rolleyes:

I'd put up some laughing smilies but I can't get the bastards to work since I upgraded to Windows 10.

Thanks very much for the thought Nick, very kind of you.  I really like it too.  Just have to design a rear end around it :-)

Update time:

Just got a bunch of personal messages come through all at once... So I thought I'd do a post to round them up.

Threepot - I have the rear wheel and it is also now reasonably clean! I have been holding out as I am in Wales (Crickhowell area) about every third week.  I don't know how close that is to you but I wondered whether there was a chance to meet up and save you the cost of postage which will probably be around £15 - £20.  Would that be better or shall I just post it and stop being a jessy?  Oh and in terms of payment we'll sort it when it gets to you, whichever way round that is.

P3ak - Second package dispatched, hope it has got there.  Let me know and I'll send you a total.

Alienfing - Exhausts, will package them up tonight / tomorrow when I get a chance and post thereafter, pay as we agreed on facebook.  MY pleasure mate btw.

Sin Tiger - After all the favours you've done me over the years do you really think I'd ask for anything!?!?!  Also found a couple more blue panels if you remain interested.

Bixxer Bob - You're welcome mate!

Jaydub - Your rear shock, lhs mirror and brake calipers went off today...  And yes the mirror is black not chromosexual.  The things I need to try and find for you again are now just tank nuts, fuel sender, clock, chainguard.  I'll keep the search going as we are getting nearer the bottom of the parts mountain.  Front wheel is still available in case you change your mind on that.

Thanks for payments to date from RF9, Jaydub and Tankerman.  Much appreciated.

Anyway,I'm having the stock bars off Nick :icon_salut:

Thanks Nick. Do you still have a bash plate? I take it thats the sump guard? Could I possibly have that too please as mine is a badly cut out bit of steel and looks nasty! Thanks either way.

Yup I have a bash plate/ sump guard. Ned to swap it with my own however as the spare is nicely powder coated.  The original is absolutely fine though.

Anything is better than what's on mine, just would like an original one that fits better and has the holes in the front! Much appreciated if you could fit it into your busy packaging process when you have time. If not no worries. Let me know total if it's a go. Cheers.
